High Commission of India in Guyana Celebrated 55 years of ITEC (Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation) Program -Indias premier capacity building assistance program in Guyana-with the presence of 4 cabinet ministers - Minister of State Ms Dawn Hastings-Williams, Minister of Education Dr Nicolette Henry, Minister of Public Communications Catherine Hughes and Minister of Department of Public Service MsTabitha Sarabo-Halley along with a big contingent of public officials, ITEC Alumni, diplomatic corps, diaspora and friends of India. Over 500 Guyanese have benefited so far along with over 100 from Antigua & Barbuda,, St Kitts & Nevis and the CARICOM Secretariat. The event was well received and comprised of speeches by Ministers and fond reminiscences and cultural programs by ITEC alumni.

Srinivasa had an excellent meeting with the Cricket West Indies management team In Antigua including yesteryears great Sir Courtney Walsh and CWI Director Jimmy Adams & team, which wants to emulate & collaborate with BCCI to groom young cricketers. Cricket indeed binds India and West Indies.

High Commissioner, H.E. Dr. K.J. Srinivasa called on Guyanese Minister of Business, Hon. Hemraj Rajkumar and discussed issues of mutual importance for India and Guyana, to promote bilateral trade & investment, MSMEs, & utilization of ITEC capacity building slots.


Know India Program (KIP) - initiative to connect Indian origin Diaspora to India - participants enjoyed themselves being immersed in India. Exposure to Indian polity,institutions,business,culture,hospitality,food & tourist places bonds them more. Every year Guyana sends dozens of youth to India under KIP. This year HCI Georgetown is happy to have sent six batches totalling 39 participants. The bond continues.

Indian High Commission in Guyana organized Navratri celebration-Garba night at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Georgetown to promote Indian culture in Guyana, especially with a huge Indian diaspora presence in Guyana. Event was well attended & appreciated - Guyana PM Moses Nagamootoo was the Chief Guest, ex-President & ex-PM Samuel Hinds, Ministers, MPs, diaspora members, Diplomatic Corps, etc. attending in huge numbers. An opportunity to exhibit and encourage local Diaspora and Other Guyanese to take up Indian song and dance.





High Commissioner, Dr. K.J. Srinivasa had a good interaction with the Police Commissioner Of Guyana, Leslie James and his team and encouraged them to take up training courses under ITEC & other schemes of Government of India. The Police K-9 squad, Mounted police academy, Training Academy and the Police band provided glimpse of their amazing talents. The bands belted out popular evergreen Bollywood hits like “Yeh Dosti” and “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”

Celebration of the 72nd Independence Day of India, Wednesday August 15, 2018 at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre.












"The High Commission observed the 4th International Day of Yoga in the small island state of St. Kitts and Nevis on 30 June 2018. The celebration of IDY was held in one of the islands Nevis at the iconic Nevisian Heritage Village in collaboration with the India Diaspora there. Hon'ble Eric R. Evelyn, Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports, Community Development, Telecommunication & Information of Nevis graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The Chief Guest spoke about the importance and relevance of Yoga in creating a pool of healthy and energetic population through promoting Yoga in St. Kitts and Nevis. Hon'ble Prime Minister's Video message was shown. Leading Yoga instructor from St. Kitts, Ms. Salisha Khan, Yoga teacher from Nevis, Ms. Nikki Johnson and popular fitness guru of Nevis, Mr. David Walwyn conducted the Yoga session based on IDY Common Yoga Protocl. The Yoga session concluded with Shanti Mantra. Around 70 people from the government, local and diaspora community participated in the event. The programme ended with screening of the promotional film on Yoga titled "Yogi of the Race Track".
